Ruwaan (18) carries a name meaning “God’s Perfect Gift.” Born into a world scarred by gang violence and apartheid’s legacy, his dreams seem fragile. In a place where survival is often all that matters, he dares to dream of something more.
His desire is clear: to become a model, to be seen, determined to break free from the cycle of poverty and violence. Modeling isn’t just a career for him; it’s a way out, a chance to create a better life.
Despite the odds, Ruwaan holds on to his hope—hope that his future can be different, that he can live up to the meaning of his name and continue to be the blessing he was born to be for his family and community. Each step forward brings him closer to a life of opportunity, far from the struggle and hustle that define his world.
